Entropion is a condition affecting the eyelids. It occurs mainly in the lower eyelid, which turns inward (toward the cornea). As a result, the eyelashes rub against the cornea, causing corneal irritation or injury, and dry eye may develop due to inadequate lubrication of the ocular surface.

Degenerative Entropion. It is caused by instability of the eyelid structures, which occurs with advancing age and is mainly due to relaxation of the tendon that holds the lower eyelid in place.
Another cause is chemical burns. In such patients, entropion may appear at a younger age.
Finally, chronic inflammation of the tissues (such as trachoma or chronic blepharitis) can disrupt the anatomical balance of the eyelid.
Treatment is surgical. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and usually lasts less than 45 minutes. Hospitalization is not required.
Local eyelid hygiene and the use of various lubricating products can help provide temporary relief of symptoms, but they do not offer a permanent solution.
